scored a very Alexa Chung worthy vintage Talbots dress at Rag-O-Rama i've been wanting to style and wear out. the velvet is actually stretchy and the fit is super comfy just didn't want to look too "Wednesday Adams" which isn't necessarily at bad thing it's just not typically my thing. when i was shopping and found the dress i was with a guy friend who actually made the suggestion to belt it, which was GENIUS because it really toned down the gothic vibe i was trying to avoid. take a peep at some photos i took at my new loft:

if so, you may recognize the above lil sketch called "sharp rocks" and well, now i have it tattoo'd on my right foot! the above pic was taken with my mom's cell immediately after it was finished so it's super puffy but it's now basically healed. by referral i went to Charles at Only You Tattoo in Grant Park who was really nice and did a great job! thanks dude!

no, I am not just now recovering from celebrating New Years Eve but am recovering from celebrations + trips to and from Bamaland + MOVING into my new loft. as I haven't had access to the internet-as usual-I'm just now getting to sharing my night in Athens ringing in 2012! slightly embarrassing that's its January 11th, but I'm a busy working lady, what can I say :)

NYE is one of my favorite holidays, second to Halloween so I always go BIG and it usually involves music. this year was no exception- four lady friends and I traveled to Athens, GA for the Reptar show at the Georgia Theater. Kat, Sarah and I recently sang backup for one of their songs on the new record so it was extra special fun times! Katherine's brother is the keyboardist giving us VIP status for the night, I can honestly say this year's celebration will be HARD TO BEAT!

don't know about you but for me november and december have been quite the whirlwind! i've hit up several friend's holiday parties as well as hosted my own all the while finding a new place to live for the next 1-2 years! (PLUSSS dealing with the additional chaos that comes with this time of year..)

with camera in tow, i've cataloged all the good times, fabulous outfits and home decor transformations.

a freelance photo opportunity led me to meeting these lovely ladies with whom i quickly bonded with over our attire:

my outfit includes: a Miss B necklace, Kimchi Blue dress, Nana's vintage sequin jacket and a vintage purse.

the december edition of Vino + Vajayjayz was held at my lil bungalow and was additionally dubbed as the "last party i'll ever have here"-

tater was, as usual, the life of the party and decided to play a game of hide-and-seek with party attendee Elizabeth's vintage skirt-

my room also got a lil holiday swag-

been wanting to introduce my newly thrifted over-sized GEM of a sweater so here goes:

dress, sweater, boots- thrifted. tights: Target. sunnies: UO, necklace: Lucky Brand. purse: via VAMP vintage sale

most of this outfit is actually second-hand or thrifted. oddly enough the dress gets a 1,000,000 compliments when i wear it out and it was found at Rag-O-Rama originally from Target. i know many girls out there can relate with how awesome that sort of thing is! additional praise is due to Rag-O-Rama for these killer boots! i traded in clothes and picked up these guys who seem to have been perfectly broken in by someone with the exact same feet
(which i find nearly impossible since i have the world's weirdest feet...!)

FLASHBACK: The Infamous 5-Hour Brunch

many moons ago...Ashleigh, Kris and I visited Park's Edge in Inman Park for what we THOUGHT was just a normal Sunday brunch gathering....

but what we didn't know is that it would turn into the world's LONGEST BRUNCH EVER!

originally it included a guy friend but we scared him off with lady talk and drunken laughter so it wound up just being us girls who later had an impromptu photoshoot on the walk home:

this is a casual version of a similar outfit worn last week. toned it down from a lace skirt to leggings and threw on the leopard ear muff i recently bought. i could probably live in a few versions of this very outfit-super comfy

in case you're wondering, the Yelp event on Sunday was a really good time! picked up another leopard article of clothing to add to the wardrobe via Fearless Weirdos, sexy and leopard-win! post-sample sale we went to see my friend's bro in Reptar opening for Phantogram, what a badass show!

Alternative Apparel PREview

last week Alternative Apparel hosted a small private party + preview for their Holiday 2011 & Spring 2012 lines. it was an absolute blast meeting the AA team, mingling with new Atlanta bloggers, ~~FINALLY~~ meeting Catherine of AsianCajuns in IRL-haha, dining on finger foods, and most importantly checking out the up-and-coming threads!
the team was very excited to share with us Alternative's newest project, their very own lifestyle magazine - Common Thread...

Here's a few flicks from the event + some of my favorite pages out of the first issue of COMMON THREAD:

-in the issue they also share details about the new LA retail store

-said finger foods included (but were NOT limited to..) lamb slidders
-one thing i noticed very quickly about Alternative is they love their succulents even the restaurant/bar they chose had it's very own succulent garden

-on the right they have their ipad case, made of the prettiest leather

-i was so happy to see one of my favorite Atlanta shops featured in the issue, Young Blood Gallery! they deserve a million shout-outs, filled to the brim with the best indie arts & crafts and amazing jewelry it was somewhat unhealthy living across the street for 12 months...too good!
-as it turns out Alternative originated in Atlanta then ended up spreading it's wings to Los Angeles

thanks again Alternative for the invite! i'll be repping some of these styles in both the holiday & next Spring for sure-looooved it all-since the event i've worn my unisex tri-blend hoodie from the swagbags everyday [seriously.]

as many, ok.....ALL of you know last week the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection hit stores and the web. best believe i was there right as the doors opened to check it out first hand!

looky looky at my coverage of the event with all the fun ladies snatching up the goods and the super friendly Madewell staff-

such good props, definitely went along with the vintage feel of the collection.

the little pouches were so fun, i was even able to snag one of the free coin purses with the "im serious" sketch. good thing i was one of the first 25 shoppers!

one of the small details i enjoyed in the collection was the blouses petite collars, very Alexa!

for the 3rd year in a row i attended East Atlanta Village's

-STRUT-

which celebrated it's 14th year as a FREE one day extravaganza featuring:

The Imperial OPA Circus, 5 stages of live local music, a comedy stage, 5k walk/run, Artist Market (which is packed with goodies!) Parade, a free kids village, BULL RIDE! community booths, food and lots of ADULT BEVERAGES!

i wore this:

dress: Anthropologie, boots: Baker, purse: Vintage (bought at my first STRUT in 2009) belt: old school UO, short necklace: custom made from a piece of Amazonite, dreamcatcher: F21, sunnies: Mom's vintage Ray Bans

met up with my gf Elizabeth, she wore this awesome getup:

from head-to-toes: thrifted, no really!

PBR was repping at the festival, gave us some cool pins and had a fun photo prop. OF COURSE we partook in a photo op!

spotted this lady from our table outside of the EARL and had to check out these nails up close-wacky huh?!?!

ran into stylish Ali on her way to work, her outfits always features an amazing vintage garment and handmade jewelry she makes from recycled vintage pieces and leather under the name Birdalupe. she even has a booth at my favorite Antique store-Highland Row Antiques (such a hot spot-score things like Elizabeth's sweet vintage hat!)

the EAV STRUT is always a good time if you like art, music, beer, parades and quality time with friends. i will continue to say YES PLEASE to all of the above :)

bought this pretty little lady on sale at Anthropologie and you can say we've already hit it off! so soft and silky with a perfect shape and transitional pattern it was a great spontaneous purchase.

as you can see my hair is in it's awkward growing out stage, sucks but i don't want to cut it though i need to do something so it doesn't lay so weird for the next few months.

last weekend i had the pleasure of attending VAMP [Vintage Apparel Market Place] in my old hood, the Virginia Highlands. presented by PonyUp Vintage the sale was on Saturday August 27th from 11-6 in Scott Lowden Photography Studio-which is about the coolest studio these eyes have seen!

the pop-up market included lots of local vintage vendors such as:

PonyUp! Vintage, The Clothing Warehouse, Eclectic Gal Boutique, Simply Vintage Jewelry, Two Tart, Wartown Vintage, Bunny Day Vintage, Modern Matters, The Chic Peach, Patina, June Bug, The Urban Thrift, Recollection Vintage, Beth Ann Style : A Boutique

I attended for a little over 2 hours and tried to get as much street style as possible, take a peak and if/when it happens again-don't miss out of this sale Atlanta ladies!

FREE PEOPLE PARTY

crazy excited that Free People will be opening it's doors just miles away at the Lenox mall in Buckhead THIS Friday. tonight they are hosting a pre-opening shopping event/preview and you can bet money I'll be the first one at the doors (even switched around my work schedule to have the day off and to beat traffic!)

been collecting home decor inspiration for weeks now as i'm done with unpacking at the new place and in the process of the fun part: DECORATING!

over the years i've established a home-style which is much like my personal-style: an eclectic mix of vintage, patterns, bright colors, with a bit of bohemian mixed in. as you can tell from above i'm favoring a Southwestern/Moroccan look with the same semi-cluttered vintage decor.

a few things on my flea market list: old paint buckets, mini picture frames, large jewelry box, cat figurines, mini bottles, dream catchers, vases, and anything awesome my new place can't live without!

next weekend my dad is hooking me up with deer antlers and an old steer head i plan to hang above my bed. once the place is near completion i'll post some photos!

last weekend was Atlanta's "Indie Craft Experience" feat. artists from all ends of the crafty world from wearable plant necklaces to handmade ceramic cupcakes. i left with a vintage Liz Claiborne belt and a father's day gift for my pops- a keychain for his up-and-coming antique truck made from a vintage license tag. my gf and i laughed because of all the awesome arts + crafts we both left purchasing vintage!

we attended the Sunday opening and were in for a little treat with their photobooth:

coolest idea ever-the subject holds a small remote, looks at a monitor and fires away as many shots as desired. for this gal who l o v e s to take photos it was a dream come true!

worked extra hard this week at the Atlanta Apparel Market so I treated myself to a new dress from the showroom. initially the print caught my eye but quickly realized the asymmetrical detail and knew I'd be taking it home! the ring is also new, straight from Turkey via one of my boss ladies-its pretty big so it fits on either middle, pointer or thumb which I really like.

today is my first day off in what seems like ages. already been to the local farmers market, hung my curtains, and cleaned the up-and-coming living space.

in the spirit of all these summer time art festivals i've hit up lately, meet my new blog/lady crush: Scout & Catalogue! the line includes vintage and hand-dyed fabrics with beautiful leather all stitched together to make mini and oversized pouches/totes. her popular item (which is sold on Need Supply Co.) is the hand-dyed scarf which seems light enough for Spring but also great for layering in colder temperatures. my favorite is any item with her custom studs! oh and her blog, awesome. literally scrolled through every page till i reached the beginning-very inspiring!

been dying to share these Sam Edelman Boutique wedges with you all! apparently Edelman teamed up with DSW and created an exclusive line of shoes that are a little less expensive yet chic and the same great quality of his regular line. the lower wedge is perfect for me being someone who cannot comfortably wear heels due to injuries nor do i need the height. i am keeping my eye out for more of this line at DSW since these are already a new favorite!

another awesome purchase is this neck tie/band from American Apparel. its made of chiffon and wire and can be twisted to any shape for anything-hair, hat, neck, belt-? you name it. being its AA its not cheap-$14-so if you are crafty i'd DIY it. now that i have one of my own, might just mimic it myself!

funny thing about these is they actually turn into "ear wings" when i ride my bike, learned this bombing down California hills as they flapped profusely in the wind.

last set of outfit pictures from my travels to San Diego. didn't take that many outfit shots since i was mostly concentrating on staying comfortable ( and warm!) riding my bike.

two items in this look excite me, number one-the hat. purchased at my boyfriend's friend's vintage shop this vintage Anne Taylor 100% wool piece is a new staple. doesn't destroy my hair and adds the perfect amount of accessory to most looks-you all will soon realize how much i like this hat! number two is the sweater-also vintage-picked it up at the San Diego Swap Meet. for just $4 i walked away with this vintage Saks Fifth Ave. 100% silk sweater. it has already gotten it's fair share of wear as well!

aren't these photos gorgeous?! the minute i spotted them on Nasty Gal's site i saved them to my desktop for inspiration. wanting to try a similar style photoshoot with a girlfriend who's agreed to some modeling. highly doubtful it comes out this badass but experimenting is always fun.

about halfway into the San Diego vacation and already done so much. a lot of riding bikes and eating. my boyfriend did his undergrad here so im traveling with a sort of local who has been taking me to his favorite spots. today we road to the swap meet and i picked up some vintage and Mexican jewelry. they also had a booth with tons of Urban Outfitters, Hurley, American Apparel and other brands i like that was super cheap. snagged some floral leggings and a tank for only $10. also came across a vintage 100% silk Saks Fifth Ave. sweater that is perfectly over-sized. i'd say today was a shopping success!

tonight we are going to a warehouse party a bike shop friend of Kareem's is throwing, should be interesting!

have you ever had a pair of shoes that you loved SO MUCH that you actually didn't want to wear them? if so, you can relate to my issue with these leopard booties. i have posted them before but not an up-close and personal pic of the lovelies. scored for a mere $19.99 via Urban Outfitters I have found my shoe soul mate. they have attracted strangers all over Atlanta with their shape, texture and print. seriously whenever i wear them i have many many randos that tell me how awesome they are, even guys! the only reason i worry about them not lasting for the long run is because the pony fur is already starting to rub where the laces cross across the top, sad times-i know. but even if they look haggard i'd still wear them out, especially to all my nightlife outtings.

while on a caffeine infused Alexa Chung browsing rant i came across these photos on The Fashion Spot from May 2009. even though they are from a few years back this outfit is still stylish-would you expect anything else from Miss Chung? doubt it.

as my bangs are slowly but surely growing out and temperatures are just as slowly on the rise-im extremely tempted to go short short. don't know if i'd want to cut my hair quite this short but close, and i have plans to get some lighter color added to the bottoms as well. while reading some forums i've noticed that not everyone is in love with the Balayage look-what do you think, like or dislike?

before all the birthday celebrations begin i have a jam packed month as i'll also be going to Nashville next weekend for a bachelorette party and the next week hitting up SD, California for an 8-day vacation with my sweety. needless to say March is going to be fabulous!

wanted to share more of my favorites from this year's Fashion Week:

ALICE + OLIVIA FALL 2011 RTW

when i first viewed this collection i was overwhelmed with excitement, it truly is ready-to-wear and i would wear it all! the designer's unique presentation of having the models stand on tables and velvet cushioned chairs, also added to the elation. and can we talk about that crown modeling and ceiling tiles in that room-stunning!

this collection stands out to me for many reasons-first off, the colors. some of the looks are muted with fall tones and others have loud colors that pop, it's a nice mix. the velvet touches definitely stood out, as well as the fur. much like Suno i am very fond of the gold accents used, even in the tights and props. gold for the win, every time! as for the models they choose, another good mix in this presentation, different shapes and all fit their chosen outfit.

also enjoy the thick cat-eye and fire lips, looks good on each one of them. the shoes don't really thrill me that much, however, some of them have unique toe shapes-the drastically pointed and square detail are fun.

being a Fall collection its packed with jackets and lovely ones at that, the last one specifically i enjoy. as a whole it's on the dressier side which i also admire, could definitly see myself in many of these outfits for a fancy date night with my boyfriend. if a favorite had to be chosen overall it'd have to be the plum silk suit with sparkle top, that color had my immediate attention and with the wide-leg trouser and crop top it won me over!

it's unfortunate really because i can never wear most the shoes i truely love: heels, wedges, platforms, etc due to foot surgeries and a knee injury. though i do not need any added height, occassionally i would like to be able to pair my outfits with heels as it really livens it up (as well as makes me feel more feminine) but i can only wear what i can, and so i continue to shoe stalk via photos//

aside from the shoe trend in this post i just realized another: shorter pants (all skinny) and most have either a zipper or rolled up. these trends i am all for!

regarding the shoes themselves-though i reallyREALLY love i could not wear [most] of them due to heel height, nor could i even afford-haha

hope everyone enjoyed their Valentines Day! i really wanted to do this post seeing as how it involved LOVE-even though its with an article of clothing and not with a significant other..but i was surprised with tickets to the Georgia Aquarium and was too busy. the boyfriend and i had a really nice day which included a yummy picnic and lots of bike riding as we rode all the way downtown to the aquarium-which is outstanding-totally recommend to all Atlanta visitors and residents.

tonight we are doing the restaurant thing as we opted out yesterday and just made a really nice meal at home, so the LoveDay celebrations continue.

this week i'll be doing more posts of my fashion week picks, wanted to have time to browse through all my favorite designer's lines before posting-there are LOTS of goodies

gotta make this quick but wanted to share a few stunning photos of Alexa Chung that have been sitting on my desktop for about 2 weeks now//

that color blue looks really great on her, and even though this appears to be a more "laid back" look it's still fantastic.

the lace, the bag, cat eyes and her always perfect hair are all on point-it's no mystery why so many bloggers adore her style!

i too am guilty of browsing page after page of The Fashion Spot forums in awe of this girls wardrobe, never disappoints.

that being said-thought it was appropriate to post these as Alexa was my inspiration for my new hair do [though we added the asymmetrical twist] and tonight i am shooting the grand opening for the salon that fulfilled my aspirations of this simple cut.

as im laying here in my dark drafty room with yet another chest cold i can't help but dream of the sunny days ahead.

since the snow storm we atlantans have been waiting patiently for some sunny days and low and behold-we received! naturally Kristie and i took advantage of the enjoyable temperatures and went around town hitting up some of the best antique shops such as Paris on Ponce, Scarlet Loves Retro and the Fainting Couch. my objective was to find the perfect desk for a small space in my bedroom and while i didn't go home with the price-winner, i know there is the right one at the right price out there...somewhere...

needless to say we had a good time, here are some snaps of the adventure//

as some of you have seen on the nightly news-Atlanta residents have experienced the worst snow storm in 15yrs and to many this meant a week off of school//work-BUT for me this meant bundling up and slipping on ice all the way to le'job!

here is what i wore and survived on during Snowpocalypse:

NYE, Flashback outfit edition

here are some better shots of my new hair and the outfit i wore on New Years Eve. normally i don't condone bare legs in the winter but since Atlanta wasn't super freezing and i knew i'd be primarily indoors i opted out of wearing tights. thought it would have been too much with this ensemble anyways and wearing leather shorts just seemed to justify the exposed leg action.

just wondering-what do you think of bare legs in the winter??

many things about this outfit excite me-

#1. the vintage sequin cardigan, given to me from my Nana's collection of clothes while visiting home- it's super soft on the inside and breathable. i can already tell it's a new favorite!

#2. the small button i am wearing reading "LF" that my boyfriend surprised me with for Christmas. knowing that he had a button maker i had talked about doing a project for the blog, but being that procrastination is in my genes-never got around to it. he listened and took action and it couldn't have made me happier! i will be doing a reader giveaway soon that will include a few of them, more colors to come as well!

#3. my leopard boots that are made of real pony-?? hair. not sure of the exact animal the hair//fur has come from i just know they are fabulous! and i scored them for $19.99 at UrbanOutfitters.

#4. lastly, another UO item, my leather Silence & Noise shorts i got from Mom for Christmas. this was my first night taking them out on the town and hasn't been the last. they are high-waisted and so comfy, plus made of beautiful black leather-im in LOVE!
