Big Easy

The story behind this Dolce & Gabbana jacket is pretty cool, but don't laugh.  My mom and I scored this beauty at an auction last year ((posted here)) and it came with an autographed photo of Susan Sarandon because she had been in possession of the jacket for some time.
((when she was a tad younger)).  The proceeds went to breast cancer research and I took it home, with a huge smile.  After hanging in my closet for over a year, I finally wore it out.  Have I said that I'm a total clothes stash-away-er, saving them for the perfect mood.  Anyways, my boyfriend and pal went out for sushi and drinks last night and I guess I was in that perfect mood.

Also wanted to mention my NYE plans, which are in full and I m.u.s.t. get my crap in the car (!!!) Dusty and I are heading to New Orleans for three crazy nights of Big Easy FUN!!!!! We are staying in a sweet little hostel right by Magazine St. and will be bunking with 10 others!

Happy New Years!!

Shirt/H&M, Leggings/Wet Seal, Necklace/Canal St., NYC, Boots/Local Boot Shop, Shades/Ebay

Yesterday my pal Kjo and I went for an extreme bike ride around town. Before hand I was cleaning and sewing around the house and wanted something comfy. (went with about) This shirt was passed down to me due to a purchase that was non-exangeable from H&M, thanks Dp :)) Sorry your looked like a gay sailor.  hehe, it's long enough to cover the bum and kinda be a dress, which is surprising cause I'm tall. Today has been swell, running errands and shooting for the Ebay store.
Be sure to check
into the auctions that are ending in a matter of days.

Sunday afternoon I traveled to Birmingham to see an old friend, Kelsey, and check out her new home.  It was a great visit, as anticipated, complete with Blue Moon, Chinese food, and laughter.  I gave her the Christmas gift I crafted, made from a vintage dish towel turned pillow decoupage card.
For the ride and relaxing night I wore a chill outfit that was extra comfy.

I bought this Calvin Klein dress months ago and like most of my best purchases hoarded it until I felt it was time. Yesterday went to see a movie with my folks and then met up with some friends and went out for some drinks and tunes.

I love the shiny grey material of this dress and the sleeves that can be buttoned shorter or left down. (Below)

It was 60 some odd degrees so there was no need for tights but I am going to try it a with a different twist.

Life's Easy in the Country

Past couple of days have been really slow paced involving lots of internet surfing, TV watching, family time, and food consumption.  Christmas Eve day we went out to my aunt and uncles place which is a small farm and exchanged presents with my mom's side and ate some finger foods.  I took some photos of the fun critters we played around with and even got to see my chicken who now lives with them, again....
They weren't that friendly.

The chicken-thing on the right was really annoying and was screaming the whole time.

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!

Scored this jewel at my favorite antique shop, Anne's Tiques & Collectables.
In. Love.
I can wear it at endless lengths.

Emma gifted this to me from a small town around her ((old!!!)) job at camp.

Isn't she gorgeous!!?!!

At the same shop I found this bejazzeled beret covered in gold rounded studs, that I am more than thrilled about.

I love the little treasures in life.

Santa's Knee

posted on: Sunday, December 21, 2008

Today was spent with my fam listening to Christmas carols, grabbing lunch, and sitting on Santa's knee.  It has been a tradition since birth that my two brothers and I sit on Santa's lap for a picture to be framed and placed on The Table.  Around Thanksgiving my Mommah starts decorating and this means all the Santa photos come out.  They are so funny to look at and to remember all those years of going to the mall to take a photo with some cheesy looking Santa Claus.  It makes Mom smile and its a tradition, so I don't complain. Oh and the parents stand in the gawd awful line while the bros and I walk around and shop :))

Made of Wreaths

This is what I wore last night to visit my fav bar, Egans, for their Christmas party.  We didn't stick around long before walking over to The Red Shed and playing many games of foosball which was good fun despite getting whopped. Since it never rained we rode out bikes and after leaving the bars went to the Quick Grill for some yummy fries (I only treat myself to french fries every so often, and it's usually after a night of boozing)..hehe.

This dress was so comfy that I really wanted to wear it to bed, but didn't since it smelled of cig smoke.  I also have never worn my hair out like this and enjoyed it very much.  I have not mastered this do, but am getting the hang of it.

Have a splendid Saturday,

I will be out at the lake tonight for dinner with the fam

Out of the Doors

posted on: Friday, December 19, 2008

Today's weather was so lovely that my boyfriend and I decided to do many things outdoors to take total advantage.  We went to Mana, an organic and health food market/cafe for lunch and then went and plundered at my favorite antique shop.  We also did our two favorite activities with one another, frisbee throwing and bike riding.  I did some backyard cleaning as well since it's been too gross to go and clean up around the garden.  My fuzzy lavender plant needed to expand it's roots so I replanted it in a larger pot and got my hands dirty for a bit.  I love sunny days!!!  The clouds recently started rolling in and with it comes horrible weather, so right before the skies got dark we rode to Capture Studio for cheesecake and chai tea ((MmmMmm))
Can't tell if the sky is laughing or crying..
